Signs You Should Never Ignore That Say: Schedule A Visit!

Posted on September 18th, 2018

As you may have already guessed, there are often signs letting you know that it’s time to call our practice, tell us you need a dental visit, and then come in. Of course, this is in addition to your routine care that you should be scheduling every six months (and that does not require any type of special sign for you to plan out). As for those spontaneous visits you may suddenly require from our Saxonburg, PA team, we encourage you to become a bit more familiar with common reasons for scheduling them. You’ll notice as you go along that there’s certainly a common theme (Hint: It has to do with noticing smile changes!).

An Obvious Change In Your Gum Tissue

What’s going on with your gum tissue? When your oral health is completely safe, then there’s usually no cause for alarm. If anything minor is happening that you’re not picking up on, we will notice it during your routine checkup. However, let’s say you notice that something is different. This is absolutely a time to call us to schedule a dental visit! Changes in color, inflammation, discomfort, bleeding, and more mean you should certainly contact our team!

Pain

Absolutely any type of oral pain is a strong reason to call us. It could be very light pain, serious pain, or somewhere in between. A dental visit is most definitely your best plan.

Any Other Change That Isn’t Fleeting

Maybe you wake up one day with a canker sore. You’ve had one before, so you give it a bit of time to heal and it clears up. There’s no need to contact us for this. However, let’s say you notice some other change that’s either unusual, that doesn’t go away, or both. Maybe you notice a lump or bump. Perhaps your breath is bad and it won’t clear up. Maybe you recognize that your tooth looks cracked or the balance of your bite has suddenly shifted. When changes occur that you cannot easily explain or that don’t resolve on their own, this is always a sign to be taken seriously. Call us up and schedule a dental visit, so we can check your smile, let you know if you require any type of treatment, and make sure you quickly arrive back at a healthy grin.
